[ God Doesn’t Miss a Thing ] A gentle response defuses anger, but a sharp tongue kindles a temper-fire.
Is God really there?
Youth for Christ
Actually, your feelings are probably being affected by things that happened in your day—like getting an "A" on a paper, beating a stage on an online game, or getting something new from Amazon. Some days—when you've found something exciting in the Scriptures—-you may be very much aware of God's presence. Other days, you might not have thought about Him once. All sorts of events affect your feelings.
God is most interested in your will, not your emotions. You should feel free to say, "God, to be truthful, I don't even feel like talking to You right now. I don't feel like You're in the room—I don't feel like You've been doing anything in my life today. But I need You. If You want to change me, here I am. Work on me any way You want. In fact, I pray that You will!"
God is delighted when you seek him because you feel "out of it" spiritually. It's easy to pray when you're spiritually high, but all Christians go through dry periods.
In Steve Jobs last days (Founder of Apple), he stated:
"I have come to the pinnacle of success in business. In the eyes of others, my life has been the symbol of success. However, apart from work, I have little joy. Finally, my wealth is simply a fact to which I am accustomed. God has made us one way, we can feel the love in the heart of each of us, and not illusions built by fame or money, like I made in my life. I cannot take them with me.I can only take with me the memories that were strengthened by love."
Bible translator J. B. Phillips had a severe case of the "spiritual blahs"which lasted for years, but finally lifted. You, too, will most likely have times when you don't know whether God is around or not. That's just the time to defeat Satan by saying, "God, I don't know what's happening, but here I am. I believe in You—please keep working in my life." And He will. In His own way. In His own time.
